Our Easy Folded Poncho gets a subtle, yet stunning, makeover with this gorgeous cable adaptation. The inset braided cable adorns the edge of our simple poncho―dressing up our already ‘elegant sweatshirt' and adding interest to your knitting!

Knit in the cloud-soft Blue Sky Fibers , this poncho has a universally flattering appeal. Just the right amount of drape and weight that feels so good on. Wear the cabled detail strikingly across your neck and shoulder, or gracefully along the lower edge―your design decision. It is merely a matter of choosing which side to seam. (Note: we seamed it both ways in the photos so you can see the two  options... it's hard for us to pick a favorite!)

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
Poncho: 22 x 50"/56 x 127cm, before folding.
Cowl (not shown): 24"/61cm around x 8"/20cm tall.

YARN
Poncho without cowl (shown): 8 skeins (110 yds/100m each). Shown with cable adaptation in color 809 Toasted Almond (discontinued; we suggest 505 Taupe as a substitution).
Or approx. 840 yds/768 m of an equivalent dk-weight yarn.
Poncho with cowl (not shown): 9 skeins (110 yds/100m each).
Or approx. 980 yds/896m of an equivalent dk-weight yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 6 (4mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge; plus 2 sizes larger for binding off.
For optional cowl: 16–24"/40–60cm circular needle in gauge size.
Size H (5mm) or larger crochet hook for provisional cast-on.
Cable needle.
Stitch markers.
Blocking wires.

GAUGE
20 sts/27 rows= 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch, wet-blocked and steam pressed.
